The great thing about the shoulder to off-season is reduced crowds. The challenge: many campgrounds are closed. After a day touring Acadia, Bar Harbor, and the cute towns long the Maine coast, my humans wanted two things: A lobster pound to pick up some dinner and a camping site where I could plug in and the female human could take a long shower.
With two days to spare before they closed for the season, we made a reservation at the Moorings, splurging on an ocean-front site. The site was immaculate and level. We arrived as the sun set, beautiful photo opportunities all around. With a lobster roll from a nearby lobster pound, the humans enjoyed a quiet evening, listening to sounds and smells of the salt water.

After coffee and a walk on the beach (just a staircase away from my spot), we were on the search for good coffee and headed toward West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Lubec, Maine.
